Discover Matterport 3D Tours : An Industry Game Changer

Calibre Real Estate is one of the first real estate agencies in Brisbane to use the Matterport 3D camera technology to showcase properties to potential buyers.

With Matterport 3D Spaces, real estate agencies can photograph a property in 3D and engage local and international buyers as if they were visiting the property in person.

After being shown the technology in Melbourne earlier this year at the headquarters of realestate.com.au, Calibre’s co-founder and agent, Justin Hagen was blown away by the clarity of the images produced.

Knowing it would be a game changer for the industry, he immediately jumped on board, purchasing the Matterport camera and app from the US and implementing the 3D technology into Calibre Real Estate’s marketing property marketing strategy.

“We now have the ability to showcase our properties through virtual reality,” says Hagen. “This device is able to capture every detail of the property allowing interstate and overseas buyers a realistic walk-through inspection, without physically being present. This takes away the uncertainly of just relying on images, particularly as it is hard to always get a feel from the size of a space from just an image.”

Since REA Group began using Matterport on its partner site realestate.com.au, it found a significant increase in the engagement levels of potential buyers. Buyers are 60 per cent more likely to email an agent and 95 per cent more likely to call an agent about a property that includes a Matterport 3D Showcase.

Luke Chadwick, a team lead at REA Group, says, “a shift in the way consumers behave now is they want more information, so providing that from an agency perspective can mean a great deal of benefits, from winning more listings to attracting new vendors.”

As well as being a great way to showcase properties to time-poor local buyers, Calibre expects the technology to assist with off-the-plan sales, as interested buyers will be able to walk through a developer’s showroom using the Matterport software and virtual reality goggles.

Calibre hopes the technology will also increase interest from international buyers, including Chinese investors with whom the agency has a longstanding relationship.

“We are excited to be one of the first agencies in Brisbane to roll out this technology and can’t wait to get feedback from our local and international clients,” says Hagen.

To view a property using Matterport’s 3D technology, interested buyers can simply log onto Calibre’s website, www.calibrerealestate.com.au or view Calibre-listed properties on realestate.com.au.
