Opportunity knocks for buyers

First home buyers on a tight budget are looking further afield to get more bang for their buck – and the current market is dishing up some real bargains.

In some areas, such as Beachmere and Redbank Plains, you can snap up a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with car accommodation for less than $300,000.
Those looking to buy closer to Brisbane City will have to sacrifice bedrooms and yards, with a $300,000 budget likely to get buyers a two-bedroom, two bathroom unit within five kilometres of the CBD.
Loan Clinic mortgage broker Tanya du Preez said first-home buyers typically looked in the $300,000 to $350,000 mark and were willing to travel further from the CBD to get that value for money.
