Brisbane’s Best Paleo Desserts

Brisbane's best paleo desserts

Here at the office, we love dessert (I mean c’mon, who doesn’t?). But despite our mild obsession with all things sweet and delicious, it’s important to consider the ‘health’ factor when making that difficult decision between banana crepes or double-choc fudge cake. And with the paleo craze continuing to sweep Brisbanites off their feet (and out of their fat pants), we thought now is as good a time as ever to suss out the Brisbane paleo dessert scene, so we can have our cake and eat it too.

As much attention as we didn’t pay in history class, it’s pretty safe to assume that in the Stone Age, there wasn’t any ice cream, cookies, cakes or chocolate for those poor hairy people to indulge in. Today it’s hard to get through an afternoon without one or all of these things (whether you admit it or not — we know we’re not the only ones with a secret chocolate stash), but thanks to the sheer brilliance of some of Brisbane’s best paleo eateries, we can have our favourite desserts without sacrificing our sweet tooth, or our bikini body.

Where to get your paleo dessert on

Paleo Café plays host to some in-cred-ible desserts. Ever thought you could sink your teeth into a sticky date pudding with caramel sauce, and feel completely guilt free? Well now you can! And lets not forget their signature ‘Chockey-Wonkey’ dessert. It’s a moreish sweet potato and cacao cake, topped with cacao and avocado frosting, cacao sauce and cocoluscious ice cream. Yum? Whether you choose to pop into the café in the bustling CBD or boutique Paddington location, you’re in for a paleo treat!

Orawgi in Woolloongabba do many things well (The salads! The raw pizzas!) but it’s their raw and paleo desserts that have been causing most of the fuss around town. Their Snickers cake is so insanely decadent you would not believe this bad boy is raw and actually good for. They also have a range of other raw cakes (think passionfruit, chocolate and mixed berry) as well as some awesome paleo bliss balls.

Brisbane Paleo hot-spot, Primal Pantry has an impressive paleo menu, and their paleo desserts are some of the best in Brisbane. With their desserts varying from week to week, you’re guaranteed to be spoilt with options. Think along the lines of Paleo choc-mint slice, raspberry ice-cream sandwiches (yes, I did say sandwich!), and decadent coconut pannacotta with mixed berries. Delish!

And right down the road from our office (talk about perfect location!), is Symposium Café. With their focus on gluten-free and paleo, this Newstead gem is our go-to spot for a delicious and quick health fix. How could you go past a paleo ball or a scrumptious brownie? And with the cabinet constantly filled to the brim with deliciously healthy dessert options, you’ve got no reason to say no. This is one of our favourite Brisbane paleo treat locations, no question!
