Kerry Weber and Calibre partner with the McIntyre Centre

Calibre & Mt Ommaney 12JUL 2013

At Calibre, we care about the community in which we work. I donate 5% of my net sales commission to charity, that is why when it was time for me to choose a worthy cause it was a very easy decision to make.

The McIntyre Centre was established in 1964 and moved to the current site in 1973, it offers a variety of equine assisted development programs in a caring environment for young people and children with a disability.
Their Mission: To provide quality riding programs for people with a disability for the purpose of enjoyment, recreation, sport, education and therapy.
Their Aim: The McIntyre Centre’s main aim is to provide quality riding lessons for people with a disability and encourage them to ride to the best of their ability.
The McIntyre Centre through a therapeutic riding program touches the lives of and assists riders with disability. Being a not-for-profit organisation The McIntyre Centre depends greatly on the generosity of our community.
Horseback riding is considered a uniquely beneficial form of therapy. Participation helps strengthen spine and pelvic muscles, improves posture and coordination increases joint mobility. Alongside its ongoing physical therapeutic benefits, horseback riding gives people a feeling of control, a strong sense of accomplishment, independence and increased self-esteem. Therapeutic Riding, also known as Equine Assisted Therapy, Equine Facilitated Therapy and Riding for the disabled, is the use of horse activities to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, educational and behavioural goals. PRDA firmly believes in all users actively taking part in their ride – this is not a pony ride, this is a riding lesson.
We have chosen to partner The McIntyre Centre and Mount Ommaney Special School in the “Special School Sponsorship” program. This will be a long term commitment, of which we are proud to be a part of.
Justin & Alice Hagen and myself had the pleasure of meeting the principal of the Mount Ommaney Special School as well as the many young students this riding program assists.
It truly warmed my heart to see the broad smiles of the students as they proudly rode those fabulous horses around the purpose built arena, and we are very much looking forward to seeing their progress over time.
“On behalf of everyone at The McIntyre Centre, I would like to thank you for coming on board as one of our valued corporate clients in our “Special School Sponsorship” program. Your financial involvement in this program allows us to continue to deliver out therapeutic riding programs at an affordable cost to all of our riders irrespective of their socio-economic background or disability”.
